For many people who celebrate Easter a tradition is to listen to Passions composed by old masters. The most well known are St Matthew Passion and St John Passion composed by Johann Sebastian Bach.
Passion is a musical work composed for orchestra, choir and soloists and their theme is built around the happenings of Good Friday as told in the Bible. The story is often times led by an evangelist (tenor). Solo portions are written for Jesus and other key characters. Choir portions vary from chorales to folk masses.
